New England Blackbutt is sourced from the coastal ranges and tablelands of northern NSW and southern Queensland. It is very similar in appearance and performance to Coastal Blackbutt (Eucalyptus pilularis), making it a popular and reliable flooring choice.
The timber features a colour range from pale browns to soft straw blondes, often highlighted by natural gum veins that add character. The grain is typically straight, contributing to a clean and consistent look. Compared to Coastal Blackbutt, New England Blackbutt generally shows slightly more colour variation and a greater presence of natural features.
New England Blackbutt has a Heartwood durability rating of Class 2 above ground, is termite resistant, and has a Janka hardness rating of 9.5.
