Tasmanian Oak is a highly versatile timber, widely used across construction for framing, panelling, and flooring, and can be glue-laminated for long structural spans. It is also available in veneers, plywood, and engineered timber products. Beyond construction, it is a popular choice for furniture making, while its eucalypt fibre is valued in the production of reconstituted boards and high-quality paper.
Sourced from a group of eucalypt species, including Eucalyptus regnans, Eucalyptus delegatensis, and Eucalyptus obliqua, these trees are among the tallest in the world. E. regnans can grow up to 100 metres, while the others typically reach around 70 metres, with some exceptional specimens approaching 90 metres.
As a flooring product, Tasmanian Oak is typically quarter sawn, resulting in a straight, uniform grain. It features a light blonde base colour, complemented by soft straw brown tones and occasional subtle pink hues, making it a popular choice for bright, modern interiors.
Tasmanian Oak has a Heartwood durability rating of Class 3–4 above ground, is not termite resistant, and has a Janka hardness rating of 5.5.
